All These Open Windows...

Just the tip of what's been the most productive, surreal year working under some of the most talented, hard-working stylists I know. I am incredibly grateful to be where I am right now, and there are so many doors I want to open in the new year that include other life pursuits.

Second Breath

Foreground: Friends and artists Helen Michelsen and Justin Catania
Background: skeletons of hornbeam trees landscaped by architect Robert Irwin, outside of Dia:Beacon museum.

My escape to Beacon, NY was a brief respite from the harsh beatings of winter in New York City. $15 for a sweep through the vistas along the Metro-North Hudson line, I don't know why I don't do this enough.

Current mood: overcoming despondency, wanderlusting
Current book: "The First Bad Man" (some sources address it with "... A Novel"), by Miranda July
Currently listening: everything Belle & Sebastian, including Stuart Murdoch's other project God Help the Girl and his musical film's infectious soundtrack; Drake's mixtape
Current workout: swimming
Current fashion moment: Val Garland's make-up alchemy at Vivienne Westwood's AW15 show
Last movie: The Theory of Everything (well-deserved Oscar win for Eddie Redmayne)
Last major purchase: Lanikai concert ukulele (for dreaming of water and sand away from the things of man)
Last project: a music video

SUMZINE Magazine, Issue 2

Sumzine issue 2 is currently in production, but the process of production to newsstands for a relatively new publication never comes cheap. I am very excited to join a group of talented, creative, and intelligent people in contributing to a magazine that shines light on a slow, but very important fashion movement adding numbers to the industry's Richter scale: slow fashion and scaling back from the hyper-consumerist model that's created to destroy. Founded by my lovely friend Jamie Ortega, issue 2 boasts interview and content from NYC's creative movers and shakers. Please visit the Kickstarter page to learn about the magazine, content in production, and exactly where your donations will go in the making of issue 2. Please give up a day or two of your coffee money for this amazing publication.

Study of Pink... Hair.

November, 2013. Quickly I grow bored of my hair and I couldn't resist experimenting with Manic Panic... And going monochrome.

In A World of Plastic

Assist a story on plastic for Opening Ceremony. Heart's out to Tiffany and Jessi of the cacophanic Dark Sisters for asserting nonchalant cool in every shot, as well as making sure our asses got laughed off by the end of the day. Beautiful photography by James Parker and styling/concept by Shannan Elinor Smith. The rest of the story is here.

I had the pleasure of talking to Brian Wenner, fellow Ohio University colleague and one half of Prism House, about his music for Opening Ceremony. Click here for the interview.
